Frequently Asked Questions

What are the entry requirements for a First Aid Course?

In all courses it is recommended that you have literacy competencies equivalent to Level 2 as described in the Certificates of General Education for Adults.

Perform CPR, Basic ELS & Apply First Aid - no other entry requirements.

Apply First Aid Refresher - participants must have a current Apply First Aid/Level 2 certificate or equivalent which has not expired.  A copy must be presented on enrolment.

First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis - It is recommended you have have a current Basic Emergency Life Support (Level 1) First Aid certificate or above.

How often do I have to update my CPR certificate?   

It is recommended that you update your CPR certificate annually to keep your knowledge and skills fresh in your mind and up-to-date.

How often do I have to update my Apply First Aid (Level 2) certificate? 

Your first aid certificate is valid for 3 years.  It is also recommended you update your CPR annually.

I need to update my Apply First Aid (Level 2) certificate, but I do not have a current first aid certificate?                                             

To participate in the Apply First Aid Refresher Course, you need to have a current Apply First Aid or Level 2 First Aid Certificate or equivalent.  A copy of your certificate must be provided upon enrolment. Therefore, you will need to complete the full Apply First Aid Course again. 

First Aid practices are constantly being updated in line with current research and best practice.  Therefore, it is important that you are kept up-to-date and learn the latest methods in the full course. 

Are your courses Nationally Recognised?                         

Our First Aid courses are nationally recognised and are aligned to the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF).  All certificates are issued by Australian First Aid Pty Ltd, a Registered Training Organisation who is acknowledged as a national provider of First Aid Training in Australia.  Our instructors are are qualified to deliver nationally recognised first aid courses.

Do you follow the Australian Resusciation Council guidelines for CPR & First Aid?                             

First Aid Educators is committed to following the guidelines of the Australian Resuscitation Council.  Our instructors subscribe to the Australian Resucitation Council Guidelines to keep up-to-date with all current recommended first aid practices.

What experience and qualifications do your trainers have?   

Our trainers are experienced Health Professionals (Nurses) who have practical hands on experience performing first aid.  All trainers have workplace training qualifications and have a minimum of Level 3 / Occupational First Aid.  Your will learn from trainers who have provided first aid care for a wide variety of injuries and illnesses that you will be learning about.
